The Lawdawgs are the first Pro Barbecue Competition Team to join the FPBS

"When Kevin and his wife Kerry moved to Brunswick, GA, in August of 2008, we left behind the teammates that we had previously cooked with, Blueline BBQ. While they have remained friends with them, Kerry and Kevin decided that we needed to establish an identity in Brunswick, GA, that was uniquely their own. The entire process took approximately 1 year. He will relay as much about the process as he can, so that if you are interested in forming your own competition team, and finances play a big part of it, we will share the ideas that we used. So if you are looking to start a team here in the Panhandle or anywhere else, Kevin can help you. First, Kevin decided to locate a name that was not already taken. After searching through many different sanctioning bodies lists of competition teams, and after choosing a name that would fit them, they settled on Lawdawg BBQ. The reason? Kevin is a career law enforcement officer and a University of Georgia "Dawg" fan. So, he decided to combine both of his passions to create a third one, my barbecue team. The lawdawgs have won many awards mostly in Georgia. We hope see the team in the Panhandle one of these days."
